Terminally ill woman to stay in foreclosed home until she dies

A Fair Oaks couple are caught in a medical and financial crisis worsened by the drawn-out recession.

Luther positions Claire with help from a nurse's aide as his wife tells him her back hurts from being confined to bed. He placed a bandage on her tailbone to help a bedsore heal.

Luther Findley bathes his wife, Claire, every morning, then dresses her in a clean nightgown while a nurse's aide puts fresh sheets on her bed. Claire, who requires 24-hour care, survives on protein drinks that her husband makes, using fruit, vegetables, garlic and fiber. "I'm blessed because I have you," she whispers to Luther.

Luther Findley walks his five Pomeranians and border collie in the Fair Oaks neighborhood where he has lived his entire life.

On his return home from walking his dog, Luther checks in on his wife, Claire, who requires 24-hour care in the final stages of ALS, a.k.a. Lou Gehrig's disease. Only months remain.
